Finally! An Affordable Electric Car We Actually Want
The iconic Renault Twingo is back, and it’s on a mission to put Europe on a “small car diet.” First launched in 1992, this cheeky little car returns as a retro-futuristic, all-electric city with bold plans to be properly fun and properly affordable. We took it to the sun-soaked (and very narrow) roads of Ibiza to see if it lives up to the legend, and whether this could be one of the most important small EVs in years. Landing in the UK in early 2027, this mischievous little EV is targeting a sub-£20K price, developed in just 100 weeks (half the usual time), and designed to be incredibly efficient to own and run. With 163 miles of range, a 27.5 kWh battery, and a lightweight 1,200 kg body, it’s all about being as economical to own as possible. Boasting One Pedal driving, loads of smart safety tech, clever packaging, and a surprisingly spacious, thoughtfully designed interior, this isn't just about sensible numbers. It’s all built on a platform Renault is seriously proud of. So, can this small, city-focused EV actually be fun? Hegseth allows troops to carry personal firearms on US military bases
U.S. service members and other Defense Department personnel will be able to carry and store their own personal weapons on military bases across the country, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Thursday. Hegseth said the move ensures that members of the U.S. military can "exercise their God-given right to keep and bear arms." In a video on X, Hegseth said he signed a memo Thursday allowing soldiers to ask their commanders "to carry a privately owned firearm with the presumption that it is necessary for personal protections." If the request is denied, there will be a written explanation. It’s unclear what would disqualify a service member from carrying on their respective base. Hegseth said before today, it was "virtually impossible" for Defense Department personnel to carry personal weapons. "The War Department's uniformed service members are trained at the highest and unwavering standards," Hegseth said. "These war fighters, entrusted with the safety of our nation, are no less entitled to exercise their God-given right to keep and bear arms than any other American. Our war fighters defend the right of others to carry. They should be able to carry themselves." Hegseth pointed to shootings at Holloman Air Force Base in March and Fort Stewart in August 2025, and a terror attack at the Pensacola Naval Air Station in December 2019. "Not all enemies are foreign, nor are they all outside our borders," Hegseth said. "Some are domestic. NASA's powerful Launch Abort System — literally designed to outrun the debris from an exploding rocket and save the lives of astronauts should something go wrong during launch — is the result of years of work from scientists and engineers across the country, including by the agency’s pioneers of extreme flight out in the Mojave Desert. The Armstrong Flight Research Center helped the agency conduct two essential tests of the abort system ahead of NASA’s return to the moon scheduled for this week: In the first, they fired the system from the ground to emulate an abort on the launch pad, and in the second, they fired it while the capsule raced through the atmosphere on a modified missile to emulate an abort during flight. Rep. Chip Roy wants to 'stop the flood of Islamists into Texas'
Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), who is headed into a runoff in the race for Texas Attorney General, has made criticism of "Islamists" a central tenet of his campaign, as Islamophobic rhetoric continues to be a rising trend among GOP candidates. He told The Post he is going to make it his "fundamental mission, as the Attorney General of Texas, to stop the flood of Islamists into Texas." Lawmakers from Texas have led the negative posts about Muslims and Islam this year, and Roy has made the most — more than 130 posts since January, according to an analysis by The Washington Post. "No more Muslims," Roy wrote in a post over the weekend. In another, he declared Texas “under assault” while defending the state’s designation of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim civil rights group, as a terrorist organization. Roy answered rapid-fire questions on religious protections, abortion rights in Texas and more. With the 2026 elections underway, The Post's Anna Liss-Roy is grilling candidates in races across the country, pressing Democrats and Republicans to share their takes at high-speed.

El cielo de la isla de Creta, en Grecia, se tiñó de un tono anaranjado el miércoles (1 de abril) tras quedar cubierto por una neblina de polvo procedente del continente africano. La ciudad de Heraclión quedó sumergida en el polvo anaranjado, que se forma cuando fuertes vientos empujan partículas de arena y polvo del desierto del Sáhara, en el norte de África, a través del Mediterráneo. Los medios locales informaron de que la baja visibilidad provocada por el polvo hizo que algunos vuelos con destino a la isla se desviaran a otros aeropuertos.

In his first formal address to the nation since starting the war with Iran, President Trump says the U.S. will finish its military mission there in the next few weeks. Trump didn’t say much new, repeating that Iran’s military has been destroyed and promising more bombing to come. The president said the closure of the Strait of Hormuz was not America’s problem, but should be dealt with by other countries that rely more heavily on it. Iran’s closure of the strait has driven up the price of oil worldwide, and it’s not clear if any other country besides the U.S. could reopen it by force. Trump did not suggest a major ground operation is imminent, despite thousands of additional troops in or en route to the region. President Trump said he’s strongly considering pulling the U.S. out of NATO in comments to "The Telegraph." Speaking on Fox News’ "Hannity" last night, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the U.S. would have to "reexamine the value of NATO" once the war in Iran is over. Meanwhile, writing online this morning, Trump claimed that Iran’s new leader has asked for a ceasefire. Trump says the U.S. would only consider it once the Strait of Hormuz has reopened. Until then, he says, the U.S. will continue to blast Iran "into oblivion." Iranian officials have said they aren’t engaging in talks with the U.S. The White House says Trump plans to address the nation about the war in Iran this evening. Megan Thee Stallion is updating fans about her hospitalization that occurred after she fell ill during a performance of 'Moulin Rouge! The Musical' and exited mid-show. Stallion's rep shared a statement with The Hollywood Reporter that reads, "On Tuesday evening, Megan was transported to a local hospital to undergo a medical evaluation after experiencing concerning symptoms. Doctors ultimately identified extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction and low metabolic levels as the cause of her symptoms. Megan has since been treated, discharged and is now resting." While Megan will miss Wednesday's performance of the musical, her rep says she is looking forward to resuming her role on Thursday.
